Faculty team to study how ‘swimming cells’ move

They are the tiny motors present in many of the human body’s most complex systems. But how cilia and flagella actually move remains a mystery. A team of engineering and medical faculty has received a five-year, $1.25 million grant to study the organelles’ mechanics.

Longyear memorial scheduled for Sept. 10

A memorial for student Sarah Longyear has been scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, in College Hall on the South 40 area of campus. A reception will follow in Tisch Commons in the Danforth University Center. Longyear died in April.
