We asked. You spoke. We listened.

Dear valued Record reader,

We are very proud of The Record and appreciate all of the positive feedback we receive from readers like you. But we always are striving to improve.

Last December, we asked for your input about what kind of content you prefer, what you’d like to see more of and what changes might make your reading experience even better.

What we learned:

  • You love to learn about the university’s research and scholarship and the impact we are having around the world.
  • You would like more time to consume content, with editions hitting your inbox less frequently.
  • You are keen on knowing — with more advance notice — about cool, interesting and fun happenings around the university.
  • You don’t want us to let up on the quality, depth and vigor of our reporting.

So …

Starting this week, you will receive three Record news issues, containing a variety of research, people stories, notable speakers and faculty experts in the media. Once a week, on Thursdays, you will receive The Record: Happenings, an easy-to-digest look ahead at upcoming events.

new schedule of the Record

Importantly, we are not taking anything away from the great product you know and love, just giving you a chance to plan ahead so you can attend more of our great performances, lectures, athletic events, exhibits and student activities. We hope this also allows you to take a breath and more fully digest our great content day in and day out.

You can help.

To help us make sure The Record: Happenings is robust, we’d love to hear about significant events planned in your corner of campus. Let us know by completing our online event form.

We think you’ll like the new approach, and we welcome your feedback. Email us at
