Sam Fox School’s virtual fashion show will be held May 15

Fashion design majors from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts will present their work at 4 p.m. May 15 as part of the 92nd Annual Fashion Design Show. Filled with sleek silhouettes, saturated palettes and crazy-quilt textures, the show — titled “The Collective” — is a full-throated rejection of pandemic-era dourness.

Jeffrey I.Gordon, MD, the Dr. Robert J. Glaser Distinguished University Professor and director of the Edison Family Center for Genome Sciences & Systems Biology, will present this talk on using microbiota-directed complementary foods to treat undernutrition in children.

Global Health Work: Ghana and the pandemic

The Institute for Public Health features two presentations. Cindy Brantmeier, professor of applied linguistics in Arts & Sciences, will present on pandemic literacy in Ghana; and George Kyei, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine at the School of Medicine, will discuss “HIV and COVID in Ghana.”

Brown School to showcase Graduate Policy Scholars

5–7 p.m. Tuesday, May 11

The Brown School will spotlight 2020-21 Graduate Policy Scholars in the disciplines of social work, public health, social policy and art. Scholars will give presentations on topics including immigration, the school-to-prison pipeline and more. The Graduate Policy Scholars program is presented in partnership with the Clark-Fox Policy Institute.
