Sam Fox School’s virtual fashion show will be held May 15

Fashion design majors from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts will present their work at 4 p.m. May 15 as part of the 92nd Annual Fashion Design Show. Filled with sleek silhouettes, saturated palettes and crazy-quilt textures, the show — titled “The Collective” — is a full-throated rejection of pandemic-era dourness.

The Brown School presents a panel discussion on the complexities of maternal mental health through a health equity framework. Hear from a panel of experts in the medical field. Tyriesa Howard Howell, assistant professor at the Brown School, will moderate the event.

Hear from MBA alumna Shelley Smith, brewing innovation manager at the Boston Beer Company, and Eryn Bottens, head brewer at the Samuel Adams brewery, for a discussion on beer innovation in celebration of American Craft Beer Week.



Professors Emeriti lecture on childhood undernutrition

Jeffrey I.Gordon, MD, the Dr. Robert J. Glaser Distinguished University Professor and director of the Edison Family Center for Genome Sciences & Systems Biology, will present this talk on using microbiota-directed complementary foods to treat undernutrition in children.



Global Health Work: Ghana and the pandemic

1 p.m. Monday, May 10

The Institute for Public Health features two presentations. Cindy Brantmeier, professor of applied linguistics in Arts & Sciences, will present on pandemic literacy in Ghana; and George Kyei, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine at the School of Medicine, will discuss “HIV and COVID in Ghana.”
