Lunar New Year Festival takes place this weekend

WashU Samulnori will perform in “Chasing Dreams,” this year’s Lunar New Year showcase, which runs Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4, at Edison Theatre on the Danforth Campus. A celebration of Asian culture, the student-produced event also features a Chinese fan dance, a Vietnamese lotus dance, Filipino tinikling and other acts.

The Black Rep show ‘The Light’ opens

7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2

The Black Rep will continue its 46th season with “The Light” by award-winning playwright Loy A. Webb. The story opens with a couple celebrating a marriage proposal while having to address past memories. Performances will run through Feb. 26. A.E. Hotchner Studio Theatre.

The Sam Fox School welcomes Robert Wilson, avant-garde theater and visual artist, for this year’s Laskey Charrette Kickoff lecture, “Two Street.” Steinberg Hall Auditorium.

Midwest Climate Summit to be held

Tuesday, Feb. 21– Thursday, Feb. 23

The Midwest Climate Summit brings together climate leaders, researchers and professionals to accelerate climate action and catalyze new partnerships. Keynote speakers are Sylvia Hood Washington, an environmental epidemiologist, engineer and historian; and Janet McCabe, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency deputy administrator. The summit will be presented at the Knight Executive Center, with a virtual option.
