After Roe v. Wade: Making sense of Suzan-Lori Parks’ ‘F***ing A’

It started out as a joke. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks was boasting to a friend that she was going to adapt Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic novel “The Scarlet Letter.” Yet while the “A” in the novel referred to adultery, in Parks’ play, it stands for abortion. Arts & Sciences’ Julia Walker explores the show, which will be performed on campus next week.
