Searching for dark matter

Dark matter makes up about 80-85% of all matter in the universe, but we still don’t know much about it. Physicist Jim Buckley in Arts & Sciences is building a gamma ray astronomy instrument to search for dark matter and also developing quantum electronics for the Axion Dark Matter eXperiment.

John Sprague, professor emeritus of political science

John Sprague, the Sidney W. Souers Professor Emeritus of Government in Arts & Sciences, died Dec. 21. He was 89. Sprague was among the early scientists to embrace the power of computers to conduct analysis to better understand human behavior.
