Oxygen levels link to ancient explosion of life

A team of researchers, including from Arts & Sciences, found that oxygen levels appear to increase at about the same time as a three-fold increase in biodiversity during the Ordovician Period, according to a study in Nature Geoscience.

Obituary: Eric P. Newman, WashU alumnus, benefactor, 106

in memoriam graphicSt. Louis businessman, scholar and philanthropist Eric P. Newman — an alumnus and major benefactor to Washington University — died Nov. 15 at his home in Clayton. He was 106 years old.
