Trustees meet, elect new members and officers

At its spring meeting May 3, the Board of Trustees of Washington University in St. Louis elected two new members to the board, re-elected six members and elected officers, among other actions, according to Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton.

At the Washington University in St. Louis Board of Trustees meeting Thursday and Friday, Feb. 28 and March 1, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton reported on a number of recent developments on the Medical and Danforth campuses. Trustees also heard special reports on innovations and developments in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the School of Medicine. ​

Trustees meet, discuss entrepreneurship and innovation, elect new trustee

At the December meeting of the Washington University Board of Trustees Dec. 1 and 2, trustees discussed the university’s innovation and entrepreneurial focus and programs, according to Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton. The board also elected a new trustee. Robert W. Frick, former vice chairman of the board of Bank of America and currently actively involved with young entrepreneurial companies in the San Francisco Bay Area, was elected as a new Ethan A.H. Shepley Trustee for a four-year term ending December 2015.

Trustee Jai P. Nagarkatti, 63

Jai P. Nagarkatti, PhD, a member of the Washington University Board of Trustees since 2007 and chairman, president and CEO of Sigma-Aldrich Corp., died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, in St. Louis, Mo., of a heart attack. He was 63. Nagarkatti was elected to the WUSTL Board of Trustees in 2007 and has been a member of the board’s Research-Graduate Affairs Committee.

At the spring meeting of the Board of Trustees, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton reported on a number of recent developments on the Medical, Danforth and North campuses. Trustees also heard special reports from leading medical faculty on several cutting-edge research and clinical projects.

Emeritus Trustee Frederick L. Deming, 90

He was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1965, served as a member of the Educational Policy Committee and was elected an emeritus trustee in 1977.
