Brauer Hall receives six construction awards

Stephen F. & Camilla T. Brauer Hall, a new engineering building at the northeast corner of the Danforth Campus of Washington University in St. Louis, was recently honored with a Project Achievement Award by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA). But the CMAA award is only the latest of seven honors garnered by Brauer Hall, home to the School of Engineering & Applied Science’s Department of Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering.

Danforth Campus celebrates Campus Sustainability Week

WUSTL will celebrate Campus Sustainability Week Monday, Oct. 17, through Saturday, Oct. 22, on the Danforth and Medical campuses. WUSTL’s Campus Sustainability Week — along with national Campus Sustainability Day, Thursday, Oct. 20 — is held to bring attention to the achievements and challenges for students, faculty and staff in working to instill sustainability principles in higher education institutions and their surrounding communities.

Brauer Hall wins ‘Best Project’ design Award

The award-winning Brauer Hall basks in sunshine. In December, Brauer Hall and contractors Clayco Inc. and Murphy Co. received the 2010 Design-Build Institute of America/Mid-America Region (DBIA-MAR) Design-Build Award for Best Project.

A celebration and a challenge

Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton addresses the crowd at the Women’s Society of Washington University’s 45th anniversary celebration and Scholarship Initiative kickoff for the Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholarship Oct. 21 at Brauer Hall. The society’s Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholarship provides two-year, full-tuition scholarships for students from St. Louis Community College who transfer to Washington University.

Brauer Hall, a ‘beacon for energy efficiency,’ dedicated Oct. 1

Stephen F. & Camilla T. Brauer Hall, the second building in a new engineering complex at Washington University in St. Louis, was dedicated in a ceremony held on Friday, Oct. 1. Brauer Hall includes state-of-the-art laboratories, a distance-learning classroom, instrumentation and imaging facilities, and electronically equipped collaboration points in the halls near the labs. The three-story building, which includes many other innovative features, has received LEED Gold certification.
