DUC renovations begin March 19

A three-phase construction project will bring the Gephardt Institute for Public Service into the Danforth University Center (DUC) and consolidate student media groups on campus. The Gephardt Institute and key student media — including Student Life, WUTV and KWUR 90.3 FM — will be grouped on the center’s third floor adjacent to the DUC Recording Studio. Construction begins March 19.

DUC renovation offers more eating, studying areas

In response to student requests for additional eating and working space in the Danforth University Center, a 900-square-foot area recently underwent renovation. The new space — with an informal meeting, room, more seating, tables and electrical outlets — opens this week.

Danforth University Center birthday event Aug. 11

The Danforth University Center turns 3 years old this summer, and the DUC is hosting a birthday celebration at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Graham Memorial Chapel on the university’s Danforth Campus. The event is open to the public.

Danforth University Center formal dedication April 17

Danforth University Center is LEED Gold certified

The William H. and Elizabeth Gray Danforth University Center at Washington University in St. Louis has received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. The Danforth University Center is the first LEED Gold and second LEED-certified building on the university’s Danforth Campus. Among the Danforth University Center’s many green features is a 50,000-gallon water tank underneath the building that collects excess rainwater and groundwater to be used in irrigating the building’s landscaping.
