Global health will be showcased in weeklong event​

This year’s Washington University Global Health Week has something for everyone. The public can watch Ethiopian dancers, listen to the melodies of Argentina and attend a lecture by the former president and health minister of Ecuador. Attendees also can buy ethnic food, shop for artisan crafts and ask Global Health Scholars, medical students and undergraduates about their outreach efforts.

Bhutanese cardiologist adds techniques to take home

Victor Davila-Roman, MD, professor of medicine; and Yeshey Penjose, MD, a cardiologist from the National Referral Hospital in Thimpu, Bhutan, study a sonogram of a heart at the Center for Advanced Medicine. Penjose was training in echocardiography at the School of Medicine for two months as part of the Global Health Scholars Program.

Taking health care to the world

The Global Health Scholars Internal Medicine Program brought the world to the Ellen S. Clark Hope Plaza as part of its inaugural Global Health Scholars Week (Sept. 18-24).
