Foremost authority discusses Sephardim experience during Holocaust
Aron Rodrigue, this year’s annual Holocaust Memorial Lecturer, has put to rest the widely held notion that Sephardim living in the Balkans and other European lands during the Holocaust were not as badly affected as the Ashkenazi in Eastern Europe. The truth is they experienced the same persecution and destruction under Nazi occupation. Rodrigue will speak on campus Monday, Oct. 29.
Assembly Series closes fall schedule with Holocaust Memorial Lecture
Journalist and author David Rieff will give a talk for the Holocaust Memorial Lecture as part of the Washington University Assembly Series at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, in Graham Chapel on the Danforth Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.
The Holocaust in the Congo will be explored in this year’s Holocaust Memorial Lecture
Author Adam Hochschild will deliver the annual Holocaust Memorial lecture on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. The lecture, entitled “The Holocaust in the Congo – Then and Today,” is free and open to the public. It will be held in Graham Chapel, located just north of Mallinckrodt Center (6445 Forsyth Blvd.) on the Washington University campus.Hochschild’s talk will be based on his acclaimed book, King Leopold’s Ghost: A Story of Greed, Terror and Heroism in Colonial Africa (1998).
