Library launches 26th annual Neureuther competition ​

The book collection essay competition sponsored by Washington University Libraries is celebrating its 26th year this winter, offering four cash prizes to students who submit short essays about their personal book collections. The entry deadline for the 2013 contest has been set for Thursday, Feb. 28.

Olin Library hours extended during 2012-13 school year

New extended hours are coming to Olin Library on a trial basis during the 2012-13 school year. 24/4 hours (open 24 hours, Monday-Thursday) begin the week of Sunday, Sept. 9, in the fall and the week of Sunday, Jan. 27, in the spring. During reading and exam weeks, Olin Library will remain open 24 hours, seven days per week.

Olin Library will host a “Sundaes (and Other Treats) in the Library” event Wednesday, July 13, and Thursday, Aug. 4, to help WUSTL faculty and staff members discover or rediscover the services and resources available to them at University Libraries.

Miniature book exhibition opens at Washington University in St. Louis

Julian Edison is no exception — only instead of things large, it’s small books that fascinate him. Edison, a noted miniature book collector, is displaying approximately 200 of his volumes in the exhibition “Miniature Books: 4,000 Years of Tiny Treasures,” which recently opened at Washington University in St. Louis’ Olin Library.
