Stiritz is an AASECT-certified sexuality educator who teaches sexuality studies courses at the Brown School. Her research interest, transformative sexuality education, springs from her work as an anti-poverty worker, manager of training and patient education for The St. Louis Family Planning Council, and faculty member in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in Arts & Sciences.

She conducts research on the hookup culture, noting the difference that sex-positive, gender-neutral sexuality education makes. She presents workshops and conference papers at AASECT; the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality; the National Women’s Studies Association; and Law and Society.
