Law Dean Syverud named Syracuse University’s next chancellor

Kent D. Syverud, JD, dean of Washington University’s School of Law and the Ethan A.H. Shepley Distinguished University Professor since 2006, has been selected as the 12th chancellor and president of Syracuse University. He will begin his tenure as chancellor Jan. 13.

Washington University School of Law collaborates with Husch Blackwell for professional development​

Washington University School of Law and Husch Blackwell announce the launch of an intensive professional development program designed to enhance Husch Blackwell attorneys’ client relations and financial and legal business skills. Husch Blackwell University at Wash U will begin in fall 2013, when 25 to 30 of the firm’s attorneys will converge upon the Washington University in St. Louis campus for a series of three, three-day sessions. ​

Washington University’s academic programs in Washington, D.C., now are being led by the provost’s office, under the oversight of Priscilla Stone, PhD, assistant provost for international education. Kent D. Syverud, JD, dean of the School of Law and the Ethan A.H. Shepley University Professor, has led the D.C. initiative since its 2009 launch.

WUSTL law dean to oversee $20 billion BP Gulf fund

Kent D. Syverud JD, dean of the Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and the Ethan A. H. Shepley University Professor, has been named an independent trustee of the $20 billion BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Trust. He is one of two appointees who will oversee the newly established trust designed to settle claims against BP resulting from the Deepwater Horizon explosion April 20.

Syverud named dean of the School of Law at Washington University in St. Louis

SyverudKent D. Syverud, dean of the Vanderbilt University Law School, has been named dean of the School of Law at Washington University in St. Louis, effective Jan. 1, 2006, according to Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton. He also will become the Ethan A. H. Shepley University Professor. Joel Seligman, who came to Washington University in 1999 to serve as law dean, will become president of the University of Rochester on July 1, 2005. Prior to Syverud’s arrival, Daniel L. Keating, associate dean for academic affairs and the Tyrrell Williams Professor of Law, will serve as dean until Dec. 31, 2005.
