Olin Business School appoints new director of career center

Mark J. Brostoff named associate dean and director of Weston Career Center

Mark J. Brostoff will join the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis as associate dean and director of the Weston Career Center effective Jan. 9, 2009.

Brostoff is a retired commander in the United States Navy and a WUSTL alumnus with a master’s degree in Health Administration, earned in 1982. He graduated from Alfred University in 1980. Brostoff will be returning to St. Louis from his most recent position as associate director of student services and career education with the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University (Bloomington).

“The opportunity to return to Washington University to work at Olin is a tremendous honor,” says Brostoff. “Olin business students are future leaders of industry and global markets and I look forward to building relationships with world-class companies wanting to recruit the best and brightest.”

While at Indiana University, Brostoff served as a career coach and developed specialized career programs and workshops for students. He was also a lecturer in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. His appointment is the result of a national search conducted by DHR Executive Search International and a business school search committee.

Olin Business School Dean Mahendra Gupta welcomed Brostoff’s appointment. “Mark’s leadership and expertise can transform the Weston Career Center into a source of distinct competitive advantage for Olin,” said Gupta, the Geraldine J. and Robert L. Virgil Professor of Accounting and Management. “The vision of Olin Business School is to be recognized as one of the world’s best business schools and we are building the team, strategies, and momentum to get there. The ultimate measure of success is our ability to create exceptional job placement and career acceleration for our graduates.”
