Faces of Hope: a celebration of civic engagement

The annual Faces of Hope, sponsored by the Gephardt Institute for Public Service, will be held at 4 p.m. April 2 in Whitaker Hall. A reception will follow.

Faces of Hope, a University-wide celebration of civic engagement and community service, will feature a poster session with displays from student groups, service trips, community-based classes, and faculty and staff initiatives and collaborations.

“Attendees will be amazed and inspired by the depth and breadth of community involvement represented at Faces of Hope,” said Robin Hattori, program director of the Gephardt Institute.

“This unique gathering gives us a chance to recognize highlights of the past year as well as reaffirm the University’s commitment to community service,” Hattori said.

Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton and former congressman Richard A. Gephardt will lead a ceremony highlighting WUSTL’s commitment to local, domestic and international communities.

Other speakers will be Amanda Moore McBride, Ph.D., director of the Gephardt Institute; Stephanie Kurtzman, director of the Community Service Office and associate director of the Gephardt Institute; Jodi Pozin, visiting lecturer in the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts; Todd Williams, principal of Hamilton Elementary School in St. Louis; Megan Roy, graduate student; and juniors Danielle Hayes and Nicholas Brooks.
