Visiting scientists

John Russell, Ph.D., associate dean for graduate education for the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences (DBBS) and professor of developmental biology, talks with Justin Perry, a student from Morehouse College, the nation’s largest liberal arts college for men. A group of about 50 Morehouse students in the Hopps Scholars Program and six faculty and staff came to Washington University March 9 to learn about graduate programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The visit was part of a developing partnership between Morehouse and Washington University and was coordinated by the DBBS Diversity Programs and Community Outreach Office. It was sponsored by the Medical Scientist Training Program, DBBS, the Office of the Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Diversity Initiatives and the Office of Diversity Programs at the School of Medicine.
