Benefits Department to add online enrollment and changes

WUSTL faculty, staff, postdoctoral appointees and clinical fellows soon will be able to enroll in and make changes to their benefits themselves through the university’s new online benefits program, eBenefits.

Previously, individuals had to send paperwork to the Benefits Department to make changes or enroll.

This represents a major shift from manual paper processing of benefits to automated online processing, says Tom Lauman, director of benefits.

“With the new eBenefits program, enrolling and making changes in benefits will be more convenient for employees and more efficient for the Benefits Department,” Lauman says. “It also is a more secure way to process information, and, by using less paper, it’s greener, too.”

Current faculty, staff, postdoctoral appointees and clinical fellows will be able to make changes to their WUSTL benefits through eBenefits in stages on the following dates based on specific events, Lauman says.

  • July 1 — Family status
  • August 1 — Job status
  • Nov. 1 — Open enrollment

Newly hired faculty, staff, postdoctoral appointees and clinical fellows will be able to enroll in WUSTL benefits through eBenefits effective June 7.

E-mail notifications will be sent when an individual is eligible for an enrollment or change and will include the completion date or deadline, and e-mail confirmations will be sent when the enrollment or change is finalized.

Employees who don’t have access to a computer at work or at home still will be able to make changes with paper through the Benefits Department.
