Making nutrition fun

(From left) First-year medical students Kavita Joshi and Kristen Danley work with Isaiah Glover, 8; Amir Nasiruddin, 9; Mikayla Morgan, 8; and Isaiah Jones, 9, making fruit and yogurt parfaits at the Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club Adams Park Unit in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood. Joshi and Danley are part of the School of Medicine’s Public Health Interest Group that teaches children and their parents how to prepare healthy meals. School of Medicine students spend the first hour discussing nutrition with the children and their parents separately, and in the second hour, the families come together to prepare and eat a meal.
