Wrapped up in a book

Senior architecture major Daniel DuGoff (left) surrounds senior printmaking/drawing major Eleanor Ryburn with his expandable book at the Nancy Spirtas Kranzberg Studio for the Illustrated Book Open House May 4 in Walker Hall. The studio — where students learn hand-sewn bookbinding, traditional letterpress and alternative print processes, and publication design — is a collaboration between the College of Art and University Libraries. During the Open House, students display their work from the academic year and compete for Nancy Awards, which recognize two outstanding student achievements in book design. The 2010 winners were art students Kimberly Wardenburg, a senior, and Nicolette Ross, a graduate student.
