Siren test to take place Oct. 4

WUSTL will test its outdoor warning sirens on the Danforth Campus at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, in conjunction with St. Louis County’s monthly siren test.

During the 11 a.m. test, the siren will emit a warning tone. Directly afterward, the siren will sound a verbal alarm test: “This is a test of the Washington University Emergency Notification System. This is only a test. No emergency is occurring at this time. This is a test of the Washington University Emergency Notification System. This is only a test. No emergency is occurring at this time.”

The test will take place unless there is the potential for severe weather that day or some other emergency is occurring at that time.

Washington University will notify the community of the test via the emergency hotline — (314) 935-9000 locally or toll-free (888) 234-2863 — and emergency website, emergency.wustl.edu.

In the event of an actual emergency, the emergency website and hotline will be updated regularly to provide information to the WUSTL community.

Sirens are located strategically throughout the Danforth Campus on the roofs of Brookings Hall, Seigle Hall and Nemerov House.
