New athletics website debuted Oct. 1

The Washington University in St. Louis Department of Athletics will launch its new website Friday, Oct. 1. The website address will remain the same as the old site, bearsports.wustl.edu.

The source for all news, information, scores and schedules for the 19 WUSTL intercollegiate athletic programs, the new website will launch with a unique new design and a number of innovative features, including a focus on multimedia content. The site will feature video clips, a reconfigured headlines display to improve the highlighting of top athletic stories, and plenty of content for fans of Washington University athletics.

“The launching of the new edition of the Bear Sports website is an outstanding accomplishment by the Public Affairs staff and Sports Information,” says John Schael, director of athletics. “The site achieves a new standard and promises to be a page-turner that will fascinate, excite, entertain and dazzle our visitors.”

The content on the new website will encompass all aspects of the intercollegiate athletics department at WUSTL, such as information pertaining to the W Club and the facilities associated with the Washington University Athletic Complex.

The website also enables the athletic programs to become more visible through the use of social media applications, including Facebook and Twitter. The new site utilizes YouTube for sport highlights and other major happenings within the athletic department.

The university offers 10 women’s and nine men’s varsity sports and competes at the NCAA Division III level in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

Perennially one of the strongest Division III athletic departments in the country, the Bears have won a total of 18 NCAA national championships and 139 UAA titles and have finished in the top 10 of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Division III standings in each of the past 10 seasons.
