Something new in the garden

Chancellor Emeritus William H. Danforth cuts the ribbon with his daughter Maebelle Reed (left) and daughter-in-law, Tina Danforth (right), during the dedication of a bench and arbor at the Woman’s Club of Washington University’s Elizabeth Gray Danforth Butterfly Garden Commemoration Sept. 29. The garden — located along Forsyth Boulevard across from the Danforth University Center — is maintained by members of the Woman’s Club and was named in honor of Danforth’s wife, the late Elizabeth Gray Danforth. The commemoration was part of the Woman’s Club yearlong Centennial Celebration. The club, which was founded in 1910, will close its Centennial Celebration at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 13 with a birthday party luncheon at the Knight Center.
