A glimpse at DNA

Latricia Wallace (right), project assistant at The Genome Institute, shows slides of DNA to undergraduate students in St. Louis for the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students. The national conference, held Nov. 9-12, is designed to encourage undergraduate, post baccalaureate and graduate underrepresented minority students to pursue advanced training in the biomedical and behavioral sciences. Washington University, under the leadership of the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences, hosted a visit to the Danforth and Medical campuses for about 200 students Nov. 9. Included in the visit were tours of the Genome Institute, the Hope Center for Neurological Disorders, the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, the Center for Clinical Imaging Research, the BJC Institute of Health at Washington University School of Medicine and the Advanced Coal & Energy Research Center on the Danforth Campus.
