WUSTL named Tree Campus USA for 2011

Students walk among Chanticleer Pear trees between the Danforth University Center and Simon Hall. In March, Washington University again was designated a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of the university’s commitment to effective community forestry management. WUSTL first was named a Tree Campus USA last year for 2010. Currently, the Danforth Campus is home to approximately 3,900 trees. In January, the university planted its 750th tree on the Danforth Campus since 2008. The Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit conservation organization that seeks to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees.
