Danforth​ receives 2012 St. Louis Award

William H. Danforth (left), Washington University in St. Louis chancellor emeritus and chairman of the board of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, receives the prestigious 2012 St. Louis Award from David W. Kemper, president of the St. Louis Award committee. Kemper, chairman, president and CEO of Commerce Bancshares Inc., presented the award at a ceremony and reception held Jan. 8 at the Danforth Plant Science Center. Danforth received the award for outstanding leadership and commitment to the St. Louis region, particularly for his role in establishing the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. Danforth is the 85th recipient of the award since its establishment in 1931 by the late philanthropist David P. Wohl. During the award ceremony, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay highlighted Danforth’s contributions to the St. Louis community, and Danforth gave an acceptance speech, titled “Working for an Ever-Green Revolution.”
