Fiction Writer Ellen Akins to read for Writing Program Reading Series Feb. 16

Fiction writer Ellen Akins will read from her work at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, for Washington University’s Writing Program Reading Series.

The reading is free and open to the public and takes place in Hurst Lounge, Room 201, Duncker Hall, on the university’s Hilltop Campus. Duncker Hall is located at the northwest corner of Brookings Quadrangle, near the intersection of Brookings and Hoyt drives. For more information, call (314) 935-7130.

Akins, born and raised in South Bend, IN, is the author of four novels, including “Home Movie: A Novel” (1988), “Little Women: A Novel” (1990) and “Hometown Brew” (1998), as well as a collection of short stories, “World Like a Knife” (1991). She has been the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ingram Merrill Foundation; a Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters; and a Whiting Writer’s Award. She lives in Cornucopia, WI.
