Tour of Missouri races by Center for Advanced Medicine

On the final day of the Tour of Missouri professional bicycle race, some of the world’s fastest road cyclists raced over a 10-mile course around St. Louis, passing by the Center for Advanced Medicine seven times. The state’s inaugural stage race covered almost 600 miles over six days, September 11-16, and touched Kansas City, Springfield, Branson, Jefferson City, Columbia and St. Charles. In St. Louis, the final day’s race attracted an estimated crowd of 55,000 who watched George Hincapie of the Discovery Channel Cycling Team win the individual title. Fans organized parties and set up roadside picnics all around the course. City and state officials praised the race’s organization and the fans; race promoters predicted that a replay was likely next year.
