Jones named manager of WUSTL Campus Store

Rodney Jones has been named manager of Washington University in St. Louis’ Campus Store. Jones replaces Betsy Schneider, who retired in June.

Jones, who has been assistant store manager at the Campus Store for the past 12 years, has served as acting manager since Schneider’s retirement. Schneider had been director of the Campus Store since 1997.

“Betsy was highly regarded among the university community, and we will miss her greatly,” Jones says.

“With transitioning to my new role, the Campus Store will continue its focus on driving student access to the materials needed for success while providing the highest level of service to the Washington University community,” Jones says.

As Campus Store manager, Jones is responsible for all aspects of store operations and customer service. Jones and his staff ensure the Campus Store provides course materials, course supplies, academic and literary general reading books, clothing and gifts, and convenience products to the Washington University community.

“It’s our goal for every customer — students, faculty, staff, visitors to campus and alumni — to have an excellent shopping experience each and every time they visit the Washington University Campus Store, whether they shop in the store or online at wubookstore.com,” Jones says.

Jones, who has been in the bookstore industry for the past 26 years, first joined the Campus Store in 2000 as customer service manager for books. He was promoted in 2001 to store assistant manager.

Before joining the Campus Store staff, Jones served as general manager for two St. Louis area Borders Books & Music stores in Ballwin (1997-98) and Sunset Hills (1998-2000). Before that, he also was manager at Brentano’s Bookstore in the St. Louis Galleria and several Waldenbook outlets throughout the area.

The Washington University Campus Store is the official on-campus store for Washington University, offering products and services to students and faculty both in-store and online at wubookstore.com.

A recent renovation expanded the store, created a more open floor plan, and updated the interior with new carpeting, lighting and fixtures. The store is located in Mallinckrodt Center on the Danforth Campus at 6465 Forsyth Blvd.
