Media advisory: 24-hour diner by Joe Edwards coming to WUSTL Loop development

WHAT: The Peacock Loop Diner, a 24-hour diner from Joe Edwards, owner of iconic Loop attractions Blueberry Hill, Pin-Up Bowl, Tivoli Theatre, The Pageant and Moonrise Hotel, is coming to Washington University’s Loop development.

The Peacock Loop Diner will feature an expansive menu of breakfast classics, diner staples, international favorites, salads, vegetarian dishes, desserts and a full bar.

The Peacock Loop Diner and new grocery store, Global
Foods Market, are two of the retail tenants for The Lofts of Washington
University, the university’s $80 million retail and student apartment
development. When complete, the 4.4-acre project will comprise five
buildings, including apartments for about 600 Washington University undergraduate students.

Estimated size: 4,875 square feet. The diner’s capacity has yet to be determined and will be based on final designs.

Estimated staff: 30 to 40 employees

Interior features: Illuminated curving counters of varying heights and colors to evoke the tail feathers of a peacock, Edwards’ trademark display cases filled with peacock memorabilia and a jukebox

Why peacocks: “There is no other creature like them in nature,” Edwards says. “There is something exquisite and elegant about them and that’s what I hope the Peacock Diner becomes — an authentically unique place to go whether you are meeting friends or studying alone.”
