New research from Olin Business School on crowdfunding websites discovers that projects actually raise money faster just before they reach their funding goal.

The issue of ever-changing health care, particularly drug discovery, care delivery and introducing new technologies, will be the topic of a morning-long symposium Jan. 23 at Washington University in St. Louis’ Olin Business School as part of the David R. Calhoun Lectureship.

A new study by a group of business school researchers, including Washington University’s Daniel Elfenbein of Olin Business School, used a computational model to interpret decision-making, learning and experiences that end in an entrepreneur’s success and failure in market entry and exit.

Nichole R. Mercier, director of the Office of Technology Management at Washington University in St. Louis, has received a first-place Innovations in Research and Research Education Award from the Association of American Medical Colleges. The award recognizes her efforts to support women in innovation and technology.

Washington University in St. Louis strives to help solve some of the world’s biggest problems. As such, the university is fully engaged with a global network of partners, via education programs and research initiatives, to develop tangible and lasting solutions. That effort was evidenced when Washington University recently arranged a cross-disciplinary international symposia highlighting the intersection of social policy, engineering and medicine.

Two new Global Impact Award (GIA) winners recently were selected at Washington University in St. Louis. The $50,000 award will be split evenly between Geneoscopy and Strayos.

Washington University’s Bear Cub Fund supports innovative translational research to help investigators demonstrate the commercial potential of their technologies. Grant applications are due Nov. 30.
