University Libraries dean search committee named

A search committee to identify candidates for the position of dean of University Libraries has been appointed by Provost Edward S. Macias, PhD, executive vice chancellor and the Barbara and David Thomas Distinguished Professor in Arts & Sciences. Shirley K. Baker, vice chancellor for scholarly resources and dean of University Libraries, will retire after 23 years of service to WUSTL on June 30, 2012.

Mellon Foundation gives WUSTL $550,000 to preserve Eyes on the Prize

WUSTL has received a four-year, $550,000 grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to preserve Henry Hampton’s award-winning civil rights documentary Eyes on the Prize: America’s Civil Rights Years, 1954-1965 as well as Hampton’s complete, unedited interviews recorded on film for the documentary.

Neureuther competition seeks book-collecting entrants

Students who have a passion for collecting books can compete for prizes of $1,000 or $500 by entering the 24th annual Neureuther Student Book Collection Essay Competition. Sponsored by Washington University Libraries, the Neureuther competition offers prizes to four students who write short essays about their personal book collections.

A Taste of Technology
