Newman Education Center. Gene Robinson, Ph.D., professor and Swamlund Chair of Entomology at the University of Illinois of Urbana-Champaign, gave the keynote address. Five postdoctoral researchers spoke at the symposium and more than 50 presented posters at the poster session. At the symposium, Erik Herzog, Ph.D., associate professor of biology in Arts & Sciences, was awarded the 2010 Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award. The best poster was awarded to Jungsu Kim, Ph.D., a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Neurology, and honorable mentions for a poster went to Sofia Origanti, Ph.D., a postdoctoral research scholar in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology, and to Matthew Thimgan, Ph.D., a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology.
