A good beginning

Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton leads the procession into Convocation Aug. 26 in the Athletic Complex. Convocation marks the annual WUSTL welcome to all new students and their families and is the only time the Class of 2014 will be together as a group until its Commencement. Steve Fazzari, PhD (right, just behind Wrighton’s shoulder), professor of economics in Arts & Sciences and associate director of the Murray Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy, was the faculty speaker, and senior Katie Gavinski (left, behind Wrighton), a biology major in Arts & Sciences, was the student speaker. Following Convocation, all in attendance were invited to join the chancellor’s procession to Brookings Quadrangle for entertainment and Ted Drewes frozen custard.
