Cozart, an education specialist with MySci, a hands-on science program for elementary students that is part of WUSTL’s Science Outreach; Patricia Whittaker, K-5 gifted education specialist at Reed Elementary in the Ladue School District; and Tanya Cross, MySci education specialist, program a LEGO robot that is sitting in front of Cozart. The three were among some 75 K-12 educators from across St. Louis who attended a one-day conference June 17 at WUSTL to explore using LEGOs to engage their students in learning science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The teachers built and programmed robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT software.
