Honoring Martin Luther King at Graham Chapel

Above: Marsha Cann (left) and Ron Himes perform Jan. 16 during the 25th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration in Graham Chapel at Washington University in St. Louis. During the event, Himes, the founder and producing director of The Black Rep, received the Rosa L. Parks Award for Meritorious Service to the Community. Himes graduated from University College in Arts & Sciences with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1978. Cann, an actress with The Black Rep, earned a bachelor’s degree in drama from the university in 1977. About 800 turned out for the celebration, which also paid tribute to the late James E. McLeod, vice chancellor for students and dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. Below: WUSTL’s Visions Gospel Choir singing “We Shall Overcome.”
