Navigating Sumers Recreation Center construction

As construction continues on the new Sumers Recreation Center at the Athletic Complex, students, employees and visitors are asked to note changes to area walkways and roadways.

  • The Boys’ Walk between Seigle Hall and Francis Gymnasium has been demolished. Visitors are asked to use the sidewalk north of Seigle Hall and the tennis courts to access the Athletic Complex.
  • The temporary traffic signal at Big Bend Boulevard has been installed and awaits electrical power to begin use. Until then, the east lane of northbound Big Bend will be blocked to traffic during the day.
  • The sidewalk on the east side of Big Bend between Forest Park Parkway and Forsyth Boulevard will remain closed through August 2016.

The Sumers Recreation Center will debut in August 2016. The new facility will feature a suspended jogging track, a three-court gymnasium, two multipurpose rooms, a spinning studio, state-of-the-art fitness equipment and team locker rooms.
