Mark Ryan joins Kemper Art Museum

Mark Ryan has been appointed assistant director of collections and exhibitions for the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in St. Louis.

Ryan comes to the Kemper Art Museum with 20 years of experience in registration and collections management. His responsibilities will include leading the museum’s registration, facilities and preparation, and security departments, as well as overseeing collections care and the logistical aspects of developing and installing exhibitions. Other duties include directing long-range planning relating to collections and exhibition management; overseeing short-term, day-to-day projects; and maintaining departmental policies and procedures.

Ryan previously served as director of collections and operations for the Plains Art Museum in Fargo, N.D., and as director of the Curatorial Facility Certification Program at the Texas Historical Society. Earlier, he served as registrar and collections manager at the Plains Art Museum.
