Alumni awarded Fulbright awards to travel abroad

Ten recent alumni of Washington University in St. Louis earned Fulbright awards to travel abroad to conduct research or to teach English. The program recognizes talented scholars and leaders who are committed to promoting global collaboration and understanding through research and teaching.

This year’s honorees are: 

Grethe Andersen, who graduated in 2023 with a bachelor’s in anthropology and in educational studies from Arts & Sciences. Andersen earned an award to teach English in South Korea; 

Claudia Bermudez, who graduated in 2023 with a bachelor’s in global studies from Arts & Sciences. Bermudez earned an award to teach English in South Korea; 

Alyssa Burris, who graduated in 2023 with a master’s in social work from the Brown School. Burris earned an award to teach English in South Korea; 

Stefania Gomez, who graduated in 2022 with a master’s in fine arts in poetry from Arts & Sciences. Gomez earned a creative writing award in Spain; 

Christine Hutchinson, who graduated in 2023 with a bachelor’s in economics and global studies from Arts & Sciences. Hutchinson earned an award to teach English in Colombia; 

Kyle Klemme, who graduated in 2022 with a bachelor’s in history and global studies from Arts & Sciences. Hutchinson earned an award to teach English in Germany; 

Daun Lee, who graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s in anthropology from Arts & Sciences. Lee earned an award to conduct research in anthropology in South Korea;

Meredith Levin, who graduated in 2022 with a bachelor’s in English literature from Arts & Sciences. Levin earned an award to teach English in Nepal;

Paige Lockwood, who graduated in 2021 with a bachelor’s in Chinese language and culture from Arts & Sciences. Lockwood earned an award to teach English in Taiwan; and

David Mathisson, who graduated in 2022 with a bachelor’s in political science from Arts & Sciences. Mathisson earned an award to conduct research in international relations in Hungary.
