This Battling Bear logo was used decades ago. 

Answer: B) Pikers. In December 1925, the student body voted to make the university’s athletic teams the Bears. The previous nickname was a reference to the Pike that ran along Lindell Boulevard and served as the amusement section of the 1904 World’s Fair.

Congrats to this week’s winner, Jim Burmeister, longtime director of Commencement before retiring in 2013. He will receive an “I Knew WashU” luggage tag!
