Oct. 5 conference to focus on global health

The Institute for Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis will host its fourth annual conference, titled “Beyond Borders: Transforming Health at Home & Abroad,” from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Eric P. Newman Education Center on the Medical Campus.

The keynote speaker is Roger I. Glass, MD, PhD, director of the Fogarty International Center and associate director for Global Health Research at the National Institutes of Health. Glass will speak about “Global Health in the 21st Century: A View from Fogarty.”

Following the keynote address, conference participants are invited to participate in breakout sessions. Topics will include fighting famine in Africa and hunger locally, lessons learned from local and global health initiatives and meeting the health-care needs of St. Louis’ increasingly diverse population.
