PB&Joy drive collects record amount of food

PB&Joy, Washington University in St. Louis’ annual food drive, collected a record 16,908 pounds of nutritious, kid-friendly food for Operation Food Search this month.

That’s more than double the amount of food collected last year — and about 12,000 more pounds than in 2012. The campus community also donated $10,745 to Operation Food Search, some $6,000 more than last year.

Students, staff and faculty members dropped off food to about 67 sites at locations on the Danforth, Medical, North and West campuses.

The Program in Physical Therapy at the School of Medicine donated the most food by weight: 1,825 pounds. The South 40 collected 1,782 pounds, and Olin Business School donated 1,049 pounds.
