Lindsay Stark, a professor at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, will chair a working group of the Research Group on Child Reintegration (RRG), which has been formed by the Office of the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict.

The goal of the RRG is to help fill the gap between practical needs in the field and academic and scholarly research that could inform good practices.

There will be five working groups under the project. Stark will chair the gender approach and inclusiveness group. Each working group aims to jointly draft a research agenda by December, which will be presented at the United Nations in New York and disseminated globally.

Stark is a social epidemiologist and internationally recognized expert on the protection and well-being of women and children in situations of extreme adversity, with more than two decades of experience leading applied research with operational agencies such as UNICEF, UNHCR, which is the UN Refugee Agency, the International Rescue Committee and the Women’s Refugee Commission.
